Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Grassroots mobilization is an essential component of political campaigns, particularly in local government elections. In regions like Kaura Namoda Local Government, Zamfara State, political parties and interest groups engage in mobilizing the masses to increase voter turnout and support for their candidates. However, this mobilization can sometimes escalate into election-day violence, especially when political groups use inflammatory rhetoric or incite violence to influence the electoral process. This study explores the relationship between grassroots mobilization and election-day violence in Kaura Namoda.
